Summary. Modus Medium rebuilt and maintains the website for Lady Alma, a Philadelphia vocalist, so her shop takes orders and her tour dates stay current without anyone posting them.

The problem. Two things were wrong with the previous site and one of them was costing money. The shop had stopped working, so a visitor who wanted to buy merchandise could not. The site was also slow, which matters most on a phone at a venue, where a good share of a working vocalist’s traffic actually comes from.

Underneath both was a maintenance problem. Tour dates are the part of a musician’s site that goes stale fastest, and a stale date is worse than no date. It tells a visitor nobody is home.

The build. WordPress and Elementor, rebuilt with a new design.

  • WooCommerce, replacing the shop that had stopped functioning
  • Songkick integration, so tour dates publish automatically rather than waiting on anyone
  • Streaming platform links in the header, putting the music one click from every page
  • Structure across shows, shop, music and press, so each has a home instead of competing on one page

The result. The store works. The dates are current without anyone maintaining them, which is the closest thing to a permanent fix on a musician’s site. Nine years in, Lady Alma is on her second build with Modus Medium and still on retainer.
